The hollyhock is a biennial in that it blooms the second year after seeding and then dies. Because the hollyhock readily reseeds itself, it is viewed by many, incorrectly, as being a perennial because of the constant blooming in the area of  the garden the hollyhocks have been planted.

These “Gold Dollars” have a copper core which are coated by managanese brass giving the coins their gold color.   The obverse side is the artist’s interpertation of Sacagawea and her son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau.  Since 2009 the reverse side of the coin has been changed depicting the different contributions of the Native American cultures in American history.

The following depict the reverse sides of the coin which have been used in this dollar coin.

Much like the Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coin, the Sacagawea Dollar has not caught on in popularity and the minting of this coin is in very limited numbers.
